Peer Support Phone Line

WITH MOOD DISORDERS ASSOCIATION OF MANITOBA

Summary

We are a self-help organization whose mission is to empower people to build and manage their mental wellbeing through peer assistance, support groups, education, and advocacy. 

Role responsibilities:

Mood Disorders Association of Manitoba (MDAM) is a not-for-profit organization. It is a self-help group committed to provide peer support and other services, as well as support, advocacy, and education for those with mental health conditions. Today, MDAM is active across Manitoba, providing assistance to those who have been impacted by mood disorders as well as their friends, families, and caregivers.

Our free, 24/7 peer support line is one of the services we provide, and it is accessible throughout Manitoba. These calls are answered by committed volunteers who have personal experience with co-occurring illnesses or mood disorders. Although calls are often answered in our office, they are occasionally answered remotely.

Required skills:

- English language proficiency

- Experience living with or working with mental illness

- Organizational skills, and outstanding interpersonal skills

- Excellent listening abilities

- Knowledge of mental wellness or peer support (asset; training will be offered)

Time commitment:

-Saturday: 9:00 am to 1:00 pm -Sunday: 9:00 am to 1:00 pm -Sunday: 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Age restriction: 18+
